If You Think You Smell Gas:

IMMEDIATELY PUT OUT all smoking materials and open flames.

DO NOT TURN ON OR OFF any electrical appliances, equipment or lighting. This could cause a spark in the device that could trigger an explosion!

DO NOT TURN ON or USE ANY PHONE when you are still in range of the gas smell. Even your cell phone can create a deadly electrical spark.

Leave The Area Immediately! Get everyone out now! Don’t waste time gathering personal items such as keys, purses, or wallets. These items can be replaced, you can’t!

Shut Off The Main Gas Supply Valve, if it is a safe distance away from the affected area.

Report The Leak. AFTER you are safely away, call you gas supplier immediately. If they cannot be reached, call 911.

DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA until your supplier, an emergency responder, or a qualified professional determines that it is safe to do so.

Get Your System Checked. Do not use any gas appliance until it has been inspected by a qualified professional.

How Propane and Natural Gas Differ:

Natural gas is typically lighter than the normal air in your home. In case of a leak, it will “rise” and dissipate more quickly than propane. In contrast, propane is typically heavier than the normal air in your home, and heavier than natural gas. When released, propane will "sink" to the floor or ground, always seeking the lowest level to collect. Propane will not dissipate into the air as quickly as natural gas. This “behavior” makes it more vulnerable to concrete and may incur an explosive risk.

Portable Propane Cylinder Storage & Transportation:

Always insure good vehicle ventilation during the transport of propane cylinders.

Always secure cylinders during transport.

When transporting: ALWAYS secure tanks from movement during transport.

Load, transport to fill site, and return home without making additional stops. Cylinders can overheat, causing the propane to expand, the automatic pressure release valve to open and disaster happens in a short amount of time!
