Spring Checklist: (schedule to do this on the same day you move your clocks forward - the 2nd Sunday of March)

Change batteries in:

  • All smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors

  • Household flashlights

  • Automobile flashlights

  • Clocks

  • Handheld remotes

    • Garage door openers

    • TV/audio equipment
       

Dryer Vent & Ducts:

  • Clean dryer vents - from dryer to outside the home

    • Remember to clean the removeable screen/filter after every use!

End of Summer Checklist: (don't wait until you turn your clocks back as you may already be using the heaters)

Change batteries in:

  • All smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors

  • Furnace/HVAC thermostats

​

Fireplaces, Wood Stove and Furnaces:

  • Have all chimneys and flues cleaned by a professional service

  • Clean / replace all heating & air conditioning filters

Dryer Vent & Ducts:

  • Clean dryer vents - from dryer to outside the home

    • Remember to clean the removeable screen/filter after every use!

Standby Generator:

  • Clean/replace air filter

  • Check/change oil level and filter

  • Inspect electrical all wiring for (rodent) damage

  • Test system for proper operation

  • Insure that any spare fuel is properly stored

  • Train all residence on the use

  • Remember that exhaust fumes are very dangerous if allowed to enter a closed area or dwelling.
